Memorable Moments in life

There are times in life that form significant moments in our memories. These can be deeply personal, others are common or even shared memories.

Some, like these days, shared by many, are reflected upon often with the phrase, “do you remember where you were when….”.

Often we use these common events to consider our own circumstances, we personalise the events and consider in a “what if” manner. You may be spending some time reflecting and contemplating over the coming period some of your own significant memories, life events, decisions and circumstances.

Many of the life events will be beyond our immediate control however our framing and mindset can have a profound impact on our interpretation of these events and associations to them.

In our contemplating we have the opportunity to create new memories.

So if there is that subtle whisper quietly speaking to you about a dream you may wish to pursue, something you have been putting off, a challenge that makes you nervous or a goal that seems a little out of reach, maybe this is a time to take that first step and seize the moment to create the memories before the window passes.

My brother posted this to me which I though was appropriate to share with you all.

In St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh, where soon the Queens coffin will sit for a time, there is a memorial to Robert Louis Stevenson…

On it is a quotation, which says poignantly…

Give us grace and strength to forbear and to persevere. Give us courage and gaiety, and the quiet mind. Spare to us our friends, soften to us our enemies. Bless us, if it may be, in all our innocent endeavours. If it may not, give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”
