10 years…the best yet to come?

Is it all equal?

Is it truly just a number?

Is time the same for various phases in your life?

Do we view the past differently to the future?

When this post goes live on auto-publish I’ll have not just another day onto the clock, not just another week…can you tell where this is going….yep, I’ll have crossed over into another decade.

So the question is, could this be the best decade yet?

Here is a super interesting Ted video on whether the uncertainty of the future creates a perception of less potential change in comparison to the past. Knowing this trick of the mind fills me with a sense of optimism and possibility that the future is actually wide open.

This post also gives me a chance to say “Congratulations” to Alex and Georgina on their recent arrival of Saraphina. Her birth got me thinking about how much can be achieved and will change in her next 10 years. Is her dynamic learning and pace of life the role model to follow? Can Saraphina be the inspiration to fill our lives with as much variety, learning, curiosity and vibrancy as a new born in their first years.

So for this weeks personal reflection of your own. Why not have a think about what possibilities and opportunities may lie ahead for yourself in the next 10 years?

If that feels a bit vast, maybe bring it down to the next 1000 days.

Most people over estimate what can be achieved in 1 year but underestimate the potential in 3.

Gordo Byrn gives a great talk through the 1000 days in a chat with Rich Roll.

Action – Make a copy of this sheet, this will help visualise 1000 days broken into smaller and smaller practical blocks. Use the space to space to write your reflections and aspirations – both multi-season and all the little building blocks of change.

Enjoy looking to the future! Feel free to share the dreams.

PS – Now I need to take advantage of moving up into a new age group 🙂

PPS – Youtube video below is a fascinating evolution. There is so much change and yet there is no change.
